Mortgages / Your next chapter
Moving Home
Bring your sale, purchase and mortgage plans together before committing to the next home.
Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
Educational information, not a mortgage offer or confirmation of eligibility. Product availability and BuySure’s service scope require confirmation.
Start with the home you are selling
List your expected sale proceeds, mortgage balance and selling costs. Equity is the value left after the secured borrowing; the amount available for your next deposit also depends on costs and the actual sale price.
Your existing mortgage
Check the deal end date, charges and whether porting can be considered. Porting means potentially taking an existing mortgage deal to another property—not an automatic right to move the loan. New checks and lender approval can apply.
Additional or replacement borrowing
A more expensive home may mean extra borrowing on different terms or a new mortgage. Compare fees and the whole arrangement, including whether separate parts would end at different times.
Affordability for your next home
Your income, commitments or household may have changed since the last application. Include running costs and a financial buffer in your plans. Previous approval does not establish eligibility today.
Timing and the chain
A linked sale and purchase involve other people, legal work and lender checks. Ask what happens if dates move or the chain breaks. Do not assume borrowing or a move date is secured before the relevant approvals and contracts.
Questions before you proceed
Can my current deal be considered for porting? What are the total moving and mortgage costs? When do offer conditions expire? Which steps depend on my sale? Ask your adviser and conveyancer to clarify their respective roles.
Questions you may have
Can I keep my current mortgage deal?
Possibly, if the product permits porting and the lender approves the new application and property. Availability is not confirmed here.
What if I need to borrow more?
The lender may assess extra borrowing separately. Ask how the rate, term and deal end dates would work together.
Can BuySure guarantee the move date?
No. A move depends on several parties and checks. Discuss your timing but allow for changes.
Ready to explore your circumstances?
